Proposal Seminar Digital Technology – Participants

Overview

There is widespread recognition among leaders in most industries that the role of digital technology is rapidly shifting, from being a driver of marginal efficiency to an enabler of fundamental innovation and disruption.

Digitalization is the cause of large-scale and sweeping transformations across multiple aspects of business, providing unparalleled opportunities for value creation and capture, while also representing a major source of risk. Business leaders across all sectors are grappling with the strategic implications of these transformations for their organizations, industry ecosystems, and society. The economic and societal implications of digitalization are contested and raising serious questions about the wider impact of digital transformation.

Advances in digital technologies, from big data, distributed ledgers to block chains, are also transforming the global trade finance industry, bringing in a new generation of players and business models and driving the movement towards paperless trade. Digitalisation of trade, both in the physical as well as financial supply chain will reshape trade in fundamental ways. The application of disruptive technologies, increasingly ubiquitous, platforms that enable trade, and the common application of the latest technology to expand delivery channels: these all expand execution and accelerate transaction life cycles. Combined, they offer the promise of true transformation, and spreading the benefits of trade more fairly, and into the deepest links in global and regional supply chains. It is within these new realities that trade will help secure global economic growth.

Several big players in trade, especially banks, working with IT consultants, have also undertaken initiatives or pilot projects with their main customers using Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT). ICC Indonesia as a trade rules making body organization has designed this seminar in cooperation with major industry players, especially those active in the trade business, to provide real experiences in the use of advanced digital technology and explore its impacts and potential benefits. Participants can also take advantage of this seminar as a forum for discussion and exchange of experiences and ideas with other industry players, banks, corporate finance, exporters, lawyers etc.
